My spring Break hence far

Mon Apr 6, 2009, 6:59 AM
When you think of spring time in Washington what do you think of.... Some may say spring time in Washington is a time of vising those museums that you've been too lazy to visit in the winter; and others may say it's as time of visiting the monuments. To me personally, spring means the beautiful Japanese Cherry Blossoms are out and in bloom. However, up to this Saturday I've never actually gone to see them in bloom. As a result, we decided to go and visit them just to say that we've done it. Boy what a.......... interesting experience and slightly heartbreaking. You might think that if we went at around five o'clock that streets would be less empty and most people would have gone home.... WRONG!!!!!! When we got there it was a mob scene!!!!!!! Honestly it reminded me like a day in NYC or what I imagine Tokyo would look like. There were crowds of people just pushing and shoving in one gigantic moving mob. Honestly these people had no common sense. Some people were just running or Jaywalking right in front of us regardless of traffic lights and the fact we were 2 inches away from them. We couldn't even make a right turn because of the fact people were standing in the streets! So eventually after 3 minor heart attack due to idiots we found a parking spot. So we walkover around the tidal basin where the cherry blossoms and it was a zoo people were mistreating the beautiful works of nature with trash and destruction of the trees!!!! I mean some people were treating the area as if it was their own personal trash can or jungle gym. Some children and this is the worst part where going over to the new trees trying to be planted and WERE SHAKING THEM!!!!! I mean come on how hard is it to control your little child!! These are not full grown trees but were still young and very delicate.....but do parents care.............of course not. Then people were snapping off branches off the tree and letting Dogs pee on them! I am ashamed of the human race for the evidence of sloth and misguidance shown in the treating of nature. Also, cherry blossoms are supposed to signify the friendship between Japan and America. What are we saying to Japan if we can't keep their precious gift alive and thriving in our lands? I feel ashamed at what I witnessed here and i think that this entry was me venting this frustration.... thanks for dealing with my rant and have a good day and a great spring break...
